Movember 2023 – Supporting Men’s Health and Wellbeing

In November, our team took part in a meaningful and impactful initiative: Movember. This global movement focuses on improving men’s health through fundraising and raising awareness for critical issues such as mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. We are thrilled to report that our collective efforts, including participation from Neil Furness, Garry Brooks, Neil Rule, Paul Crawford, and Clint Robertson, resulted in a successful fundraising campaign that raised £355 for Movember.

Why Movember Matters

Since its inception in 2003, Movember has made a significant impact by funding over 1,250 men’s health projects around the world. The organization challenges the status quo, pushing boundaries in men’s health research and transforming how health services reach and support men. The funds raised through Movember help tackle pressing health issues, including:

  • Mental Health and Suicide Prevention: Addressing the high rates of mental health challenges among men and working to reduce the alarming number of male suicides.
  • Prostate Cancer: Supporting research and initiatives to improve detection, treatment, and awareness of prostate cancer.
  • Testicular Cancer: Funding projects aimed at improving early detection, treatment, and support for those affected by testicular cancer.

Our Team’s Commitment

Our team’s involvement in Movember was a testament to our collective dedication to these crucial causes. Each participant, including Neil Furness, Garry Brooks, Neil Rule, Paul Crawford, and Clint Robertson, took part with enthusiasm and commitment. Whether through growing mustaches, participating in fundraising events, or spreading awareness, everyone contributed to the success of our campaign.

The Impact of Our Contribution

Raising £355 is not just a number; it represents real support for Movember’s mission. Each pound raised helps fund vital research and programs that can change lives. By participating in Movember, we have played a small but significant role in driving forward progress in men’s health and supporting those in need.

Moving Forward

As we reflect on our Movember efforts, we are inspired by the progress being made and the difference we can collectively achieve. Our team’s involvement is a reminder of the importance of coming together to support meaningful causes and to address issues that impact our communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our Movember campaign, whether through donations, spreading the word, or simply cheering us on. Your support helps drive forward the essential work of Movember and contributes to a future where men’s health issues receive the attention and resources they deserve.

Here’s to continuing our commitment to important causes and making a positive impact in the lives of many. Thank you for being part of our Movember journey and for supporting such a vital mission.

Keep the conversation going

Preparing School Locking Strategies for Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law, introduced to improve security in public spaces, is prompting schools and other organisations to re-evaluate their locking strategies. With safety under greater scrutiny, it’s important for facility managers and school administrators to understand the options available and ensure their buildings are prepared. Classroom vs Clutch Cylinders: What You Need to Know With the introduction of Martyn’s Law, building locking strategies—particularly in education and public spaces—are coming under greater scrutiny. One area often overlooked is the difference between Classroom and Clutch lock functions. In a barricade situation, a Clutch Cylinder allows a keyholder to override the internal thumbturn from outside, whilst still allowing the door to be locked from inside the room. This helps maintain control of the space while preventing unauthorised access. Traditionally, many educational buildings have used Classroom Function, but in certain situations a Clutch Function may provide a more appropriate solution. How Access2 Can Help At Access2, we can help convert Classroom cylinders to Clutch Function without affecting the existing master key system. This means schools can upgrade their locking strategy quickly and efficiently, ready for the next term or planned refurbishment. If you’d like to review your current setup or discuss options, feel free to get in touch with our team.
