Access2

Customer Update – 25th March 2020

Like many other businesses, we are monitoring the current situation day by day. In line with the latest government advice, Access2 will remain open.

Supporting Essential Industries

While Access2 may not be officially categorized as an essential business, many of our End User customers deliver vital services such as the NHS, Emergency Services, and Government Departments. They often require new or replacement keys and cylinders.  We feel it is of utmost importance that we continue to support these industries as much as we can, as best we can, for as long as we can.

Business Continuity in Action

Our Business Continuity Plan is in full swing. We have measures in place to ensure all our staff remain healthy and of course, comply with all current government advice. Our office staff are now working from home – a big transition for a team used to an open plan office space, but all is slowly starting to come together. We have a small number of staff that are operating from our manufacturing facility here at Access2 and have put stringent measures in place to ensure their safety.

Team Commitment Amidst Transition

Our Access2 team’s support is nothing short of tremendous, and I find myself genuinely humbled by their commitment and integrity. Even in the face of the current challenge, our team actively strives to fulfill your orders. However, it’s important to note that, due to the situation, our current published lead times may be subject to change. Please bear with us through these challenging times.

Should any of our customers require our products for existing essential services & infrastructure, please call us to let us know and we will give these our highest priority.

Finally, stay safe and please follow the advice from UK Government & UK Health Departments.

On behalf of everyone here at Access2

Best Wishes

Preparing School Locking Strategies for Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law, introduced to improve security in public spaces, is prompting schools and other organisations to re-evaluate their locking strategies. With safety under greater scrutiny, it’s important for facility managers and school administrators to understand the options available and ensure their buildings are prepared. Classroom vs Clutch Cylinders: What You Need to Know With the introduction of Martyn’s Law, building locking strategies—particularly in education and public spaces—are coming under greater scrutiny. One area often overlooked is the difference between Classroom and Clutch lock functions. In a barricade situation, a Clutch Cylinder allows a keyholder to override the internal thumbturn from outside, whilst still allowing the door to be locked from inside the room. This helps maintain control of the space while preventing unauthorised access. Traditionally, many educational buildings have used Classroom Function, but in certain situations a Clutch Function may provide a more appropriate solution. How Access2 Can Help At Access2, we can help convert Classroom cylinders to Clutch Function without affecting the existing master key system. This means schools can upgrade their locking strategy quickly and efficiently, ready for the next term or planned refurbishment. If you’d like to review your current setup or discuss options, feel free to get in touch with our team.
