Tigris®Premier4™ – Cutting Through the Nonsense of Key Security

A 3d render of gold Tigris Premier 4 key. on a simple neutral background. Engraved within the metal of the key reads 'TIGRIS Premier 4 Patent Protected'.
Let’s be honest — the key security world is full of noise. Marketing jargon. Smoke and mirrors. Talk of “restricted systems” and “trade marked keys” dressed up to sound like cutting-edge security. But here’s the truth: unless it’s patented, it’s not protected. Full stop. At Access2, we’ve been banging this drum for years — not just because it sounds good, but because it’s the only way to guarantee real control, real compliance, and real peace of mind.

Why Tigris®Premier4™?

Premier 4 is our latest and most advanced high-security mechanical key system. It’s the natural evolution of Premier 3, which has been trusted across commercial, retail, healthcare, and public sector applications for years. The key difference? The patent on Premier 3 expires in 2032. The patent on Premier 4 runs until 2042 — giving customers an additional decade of exclusive protection and legal security. In short: Premier 4 exists because our customers deserve a better, longer-lasting return on their security investment.

What Makes Premier 4 Different?

Premier 4 isn’t just a new name. It’s a total upgrade in design and performance:
  • Unique Branch Groove Keyway A patented design feature that makes illegal key copying practically impossible.
  • Dual Patent Protection It’s not just about the key — the barrel (cylinder) the key goes into is also patented. That’s two layers of defence, not one.
  • Side Elements for Complex Keying Systems Allows us to design highly bespoke master key systems without compromising on security.
  • Easy Key Entry Ergonomic upgrades make it easier for users to insert the key, improving usability without sacrificing control.
  • Backed by Patent Law — Not Marketing Spin We’re not talking about a logo on a key. We’re talking about registered intellectual property, enforceable in court.

Don’t Be Misled

Some systems are marketed as “patented” when the patent applies to an internal component or aesthetic design — not the key security itself. That’s misleading. With Access2, you’re protected where it matters most: the key AND the lock.

A System Built on Integrity

At Access2, 90% of what we supply are patented key systems. We’ve built our reputation on doing things properly — not just ticking boxes. Premier 4 is the result of that mindset: real innovation, real security, and real-world usability.

We don’t do gimmicks. We do proven solutions that protect our customers’ buildings, reputations, and bottom line.

Final Word

When your building’s security depends on keeping keys out of the wrong hands, there’s no room for half-measures. Tigris®Premier4™ offers one of the longest-lasting patents on the market, complete with mechanical innovations that make life easier for users — and harder for anyone with bad intentions.

Preparing School Locking Strategies for Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law, introduced to improve security in public spaces, is prompting schools and other organisations to re-evaluate their locking strategies. With safety under greater scrutiny, it’s important for facility managers and school administrators to understand the options available and ensure their buildings are prepared. Classroom vs Clutch Cylinders: What You Need to Know With the introduction of Martyn’s Law, building locking strategies—particularly in education and public spaces—are coming under greater scrutiny. One area often overlooked is the difference between Classroom and Clutch lock functions. In a barricade situation, a Clutch Cylinder allows a keyholder to override the internal thumbturn from outside, whilst still allowing the door to be locked from inside the room. This helps maintain control of the space while preventing unauthorised access. Traditionally, many educational buildings have used Classroom Function, but in certain situations a Clutch Function may provide a more appropriate solution. How Access2 Can Help At Access2, we can help convert Classroom cylinders to Clutch Function without affecting the existing master key system. This means schools can upgrade their locking strategy quickly and efficiently, ready for the next term or planned refurbishment. If you’d like to review your current setup or discuss options, feel free to get in touch with our team.
